Technical Trades & Allied Health Renovation Bonding Project Tour

Minnesota State Senate Capital Investment Committee visits campus January 16, 2024

Members of the Minnesota State Capital Investment Committee completed a Technical Trades & Allied Health Renovation Bonding Project Tour on the Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) campus in Rosemount, Minnesota, Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The state senators toured the HVAC & Refrigeration, Allied Health (Practical Nursing and Medical Assistant), and Electrical Lineworker program areas as well as the Decision Driving Range.

“We are excited to speak with the senators on the Capital Investment Committee about the renovation project,” said Michael Berndt, president of DCTC and Inver Hills Community College. “For us, the importance is what we can do for our students and industry partners. Updated facilities would support our faculty by offering leading-edge technical education while expanding capacity in some programs.”

More about the Technical Trades & Allied Health Renovation Bonding Project

2024 Appropriation Request: $1.6 million • Total Project Cost: $23.37 million

DCTC requests funds to build upon its exceptional Electrical Lineworker; Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVAC/R); and Allied Health (Practical Nursing and Medical Assistant) programs. These programs have historic high demand, growth potential, and job opportunities expected to continue.

The proposed renovations expand the HVAC/R and Electrical Lineworker program areas, update the Allied Health program spaces, and replace aged mechanical and electrical systems. Additionally, the project relocates District 917 Transitional Education Service Alternative Program (TESA) to the east end of campus, centralizing the district’s programs within the building. District 917 is a long-term partner and tenant of DCTC.
