Celebration of Generosity

Event recognizes support for Rosemount BTYR September 28, 2023 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) hosted Celebration of Generosity, a special-recognition event dedicated to honoring support for Rosemount Beyond the Yellow Ribbon (BTYR), an organization that “provides a variety of support services for active-duty and veteran military service members in Rosemount and our surrounding community.” The Rosemount BTYR mission is “to serve those who have so honorably served us.”

Celebration of Generosity took place Thursday afternoon, September 28, 2023, in the main commons area on the college’s campus in Rosemount, Minnesota. Michael Berndt, DCTC and Inver Hills Community College president, Foundation Board and staff, college administrators, faculty, staff, veteran students, and Rosemount BTYR members attended the event.

Attendees celebrated Rosemount BTYR for generously contributing a Mac Tools chest for the Heavy Construction Equipment Technology program. This invaluable donation will provide veterans in the program with the tools they require while awaiting their GI Bill funding.

President Berndt, Rosemount BTYR Chair Tom Neumann, and Vice President of Academic Affairs Mike Mendez spoke at the event.

“The cities of Dakota County—Rosemount, Eagan, Farmington, Burnsville. Lakeville, Hastings, West St Paul. South St Paul, and Mendota Heights—have created an active and successful assistance programs for our active duty, reserve, and veteran citizens when they hit a bump in the road,” said Tom Neumann, a U.S. Navy veteran. “The assistance provided can be something as a  simple as a gas or food card. Each unit has a highlight reel on their most detailed experience.”

Smoked brisket, prepared by Torry Jeranek, U.S. Navy veteran, Veterans Club advisor, and HVAC & Refrigeration Technology faculty, was served. Side dishes, including buns, coleslaw, potato salad, and beverages, were provided by Cub Foods.
