In January 2017, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Engineering Achievement Committee recognized Werner with an Emmy. The Lifetime Achievement Award saluted Werner’s contributions as a technologist, innovator and leader. Werner received the award at the 68th Annual Technology and Engineering Emmy Awards Ceremony.

Michelle Boe, JD, executive director of foundation at DCTC and Inver Hills Community College, was happy to welcome Werner back to the campus. “Tony is one of the college’s most notable alumni,” Michelle said. “He has a wealth of knowledge about how to succeed in a world with rapidly advancing technology. He shared that knowledge with our students, including information on managing hundreds of employees and best practices in cybersecurity. Sharing experience and know-how is one of the best ways to give back to the college.”
