Dakota County Technical College is ranked #2 for Best Community Colleges in Minnesota by The Best Colleges, which rates colleges and universities across the country in a range of categories, including subject, online courses, affordability and location.
Of the nearly 250,000 students attending public college in Minnesota in 2011, 55% attended two-year schools. These institutions are categorized as either community colleges or technical colleges and Minnesota offers several of both.
Students attending two-year schools come from a variety of backgrounds; some plan to continue on to a four-year school, though many are just pursuing an associate degree. Two-year schools in the state have an open admission policy, which allows anyone with a high school diploma or GED to enroll.
These schools also come with lower tuition than you’ll find at four-year colleges. If you’re interested in attending a two-year school in Minnesota, be sure to check out our list of the top programs in the state.¹
