Donations will provide a picnic for veterans home residents

The DCTC Veterans Club hosted their first BBQ Fundraiser on April 25th, with support from DCTC Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Committee. The club intends to make the event an annual fundraiser.

The BBQ raised $250, which was given to the Hastings Veterans Home. Deposited into their Outings Account, the funds will provide a picnic for all 140 veterans in June. The Veterans Club also donated 12 pounds of hamburger patties, hot dogs, hamburger and hot dogs buns, water and chips to be given to the residents.

In addition to DCTC students, faculty, and staff, recruiters from the Military Career Day event joined in the fun to support the BBQ.  Sue Register, Volunteer Coordinator at the Hasting Veterans Home also stopped by to eat lunch and receive the check from the BTYR Committee.

Special thanks go out to Kwik Trip for donating the chips, Pepsi for their donation of water, Super Moms for the donation of hamburger and hot dog buns, as well as student and staff volunteers . Their critical support made the event possible.
