Basketball team 12–7 with nine regular-season games to go
The Dakota County Technical College basketball team is on a roll. The Blue Knights have won seven straight games. The team’s last game was a 97–82 victory at home versus University of Wisconsin–Stout Thursday, January 18, 2018.
“The team is starting to come together,” said Head Coach Kelly Boe. “We are focused on playing our best basketball in February and getting ready for the playoffs.”
Kelly Boe took over as head coach of the DCTC basketball program in 2016. Boe coached the team to a District 7 Championship that season and the Blue Knights advanced to the NJCAA DII Men’s Basketball National Tournament March 2017 in Danville, Illinois. That same year, Boe was named NJCAA DII District 7 and Region 13 2017 Coach of the Year.
The Blue Knights play NJCAA Division II basketball. The team’s next home game is against Gogebic Community College at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018, in the Activities building gym on the main campus of Inver Hills Community College. Before that matchup, the team plays an away game Thursday, January 25, against the St. John’s University JV. Game time is 7 p.m.
Postseason play starts Sunday, March 4, 2018, with the NJCAA Region 13 Championship followed by the NJCAA District 7 Championship, which takes place Sunday, March 11, 2018. Times and locations for both tournaments to be announced.
