Blue Knights fall to Monarchs 82–67 in NJCAA DII Basketball Nationals

The Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights lost Game 11 in the consolation bracket of the 2017 NJCAA DII Men’s National Basketball Tournament, falling to the 7th-seed Macomb County Community College Monarchs (28–7) from Warren, Michigan, Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at the Mary Miller Center in Danville, Illinois. With the 82–67 loss, DCTC was eliminated from the tournament.

DCTC finished the season 14–16. The national tournament appearance was the second in the program’s history. The Blue Knights are coached by Kelly Boe. Home games are played in the Activities building gym on the campus of Inver Hills Community College.

The top-seeded Southwestern Community College Spartans (36–1) from Creston, Iowa, were the NJCAA DII tournament champions, defeating the 3rd-seed Louisburg College Hurricanes (30–5) from Louisburg, North Carolina, 77–53 in Game 26, Saturday, March 25, 2017.
