Several DCTC alumni took home honors from the 11th annual Fusion + Fashion Show
The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Northland Chapter held its annual Fusion + Fashion Show Oct. 28th at U.S. Bank Stadium. Several Dakota County Technical College alumni participated in Project Runway-style competition.
The theme of the 2016 Fusion + Fashion show was “Through the Looking Glass,” inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. The show challenges architects and interior and industrial designers from area firms to create garments out of materials associated with home interiors and building. This year, competitors were asked to incorporate a reflective wall covering material by Area Environments into their design.
Notable DCTC accomplishments include:
Suzanne Casler, a 2010 graduate of the DCTC Interior Design program, won the 2016 Best in Show with Studio Bauen.
Ann Fritz, a 2004 DCTC graduate, is the interior design director of the ESG which won Best Interpretation of Theme and Best in Show First Runner Up.
Jason Zielsdorf, 2016 graduate, and current student Abbey Burkel helped the BDH + Young team bring home awards for Most Wearable and Best Use of Surprise Elements.
