Campus groups will face off in the 6th Annual DCTC Pumpkin Carving Contest
The 2016 DCTC Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest will be held Oct. 27. Sponsored by the DCTC Student Senate, students and employees are encouraged to participate.
Student coordinator Yeti Tessma said the event provides a good way for the campus community to interact with one another.
“It’s a good experience and a way to have a little fun on campus,” said Tessma.
All campus groups can carve or decorate a pumpkin. Entries will be divided into three categories: Student Life groups including clubs and athletics, Students Groups such as programs specific entries and Employees.
Groups should create pumpkins that relate to their organization. A portion of the pumpkin must be carved. It cannot solely be decorated.
A panel of judges will grade each entry on the following: visual impact, craftsmanship and quality, originality and how well it relates to the group. Prizes will be awarded to the top three entries in each group.
Campus groups can register until noon Oct. 25 in the Student Life Center. Additionally, pumpkins can be picked up from the Student Life Center on Tuesday, Oct. 25th.
Finished pumpkins should be submitted with a completed entry form by 9 a.m. Thursday Oct. 27 in the Student Life Center.
Pumpkins will be on display from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 27th in the Central Commons. For more information contact Kendall Palfi at kendall.palfi@dctc.edu.
