Start the school year off right by attending Ready, Set, Go Day

Finish last minute tasks and get familiar with campus Aug. 18

The fall semester will start Aug. 22 and Dakota County Technical College wants to make sure its new students are ready to hit the ground running.

DCTC will host its first Ready, Set, Go Day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18. The event offers new and returning students the opportunity to get familiar with campus, buy textbooks, learn about life as a DCTC student from current students and alumni and speak with faculty.

“It’s a great opportunity for new students to get everything set so they are prepared for their first day of class,” said Student Life Assistant Director Anna Voight.

New students will be treated to breakfast in the Central Commons. Students will check in at the Welcome Station and receive a New Student Scavenger Hunt game. New students who complete the tasks on the sheet will receive a free DCTC t-shirt.

Another key feature of the event is the chance talk with faculty. Students can meet their teachers face to face and ask any questions they might have.

Going into this semester, DCTC revised its orientation and registration process. A busy process, it was decided to host an event that gave new students a second chance to come to campus and explore at their own pace and finish up their last minute tasks.

Ready, Set, Go Day was born and Voight hopes students will take advantage of the opportunity. To learn more https://www.dctc.edu/admissions/ready-set-go/.
