Middle school students can explore health sciences careers through Scrubs Camp
Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) will host their second year of Scrubs Camp. Scrubs Camp offers a unique way for middle school students (completed grades 6-8) to explore a variety of health science careers. Two different camp sessions will be offered (session 1 from June 13-14 and session 2 from June 15-16).
From 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., students will participate in hands-on learning sessions. Additionally, students will spend two days exploring careers such as nursing, laboratory science and many others. Students experience these careers through field trips and hands on activities facilitated by healthcare professionals and college faculty. Students will be provided their own scrubs top to wear and meals will be included.
A collaborative project between HealthForce Minnesota, DCTC, Dakota County Public Health, ISD 917, Gillette Children’s Hospital and Fairview Health Services, Scrubs Camps will be offered throughout the summer all over Minnesota for middle and high school students. During summer 2015, over 450 students attended Scubs Camps at five locations. For summer 2016 planners project they will host more than 850 students at 14 different locations!
