Nine DCTC students bring home medals from the SkillsUSA Minnesota Championship

DCTC had 42 students compete at the SkillsUSA Minnesota Championship

Nine Dakota County Technical College students won medals at the SkillsUSA Minnesota Championship held April 1-3 at the Doubletree Hotel in Bloomington.

DCTC’s contingent brought home five gold medals, three silver and one bronze. DCTC’s medal winners include:

Computer Programming: Kevin Day, gold
Industrial Motor Control: Jeremy Carl, gold and YK Moua, silver
Information Technology Services: Ryan Monio, gold
Job Demonstration A: Scott Maki, gold

Related Technical Math: Jeffrey Anderson, silver and Robyn Callaway, bronze
Trade Math: Anthony Hanto, gold and Robyn Callaway, silver

The students who won gold medals have the opportunity to advance to the National Championships, which will be held June 20-24 in Louisville Kentucky.

In all, DCTC had 42 students competed at the SkillsUSA Minnesota Championship. The championship features 80 skill and leadership contests. Students compete in a variety of fields including technical, skilled, service and health occupations. Student members from across the state participate in these entry-level, hands-on skill contests which are evaluated by industry and business leaders. The competitions are based on industry driven occupation skill standards.
