Softball fundraiser Saturday, January 30th

To support their trip to Florida, the softball team will host a fundraiser dinner on Saturday, Jan. 30.

Fundraiser will feature Italian dinner, entertainment and prizes

Living in Minnesota can make playing softball in the spring tough. However, to be competitive it’s necessary. So each year over spring break, the Blue Knights Softball team travel south to get games in.

This year, the 18-players and coaching staff will head down to Clermont, FL to play against teams from all over the country. In fact, the Blue Knights will play 10-games in seven days.

“Coming from a northern climate, it’s valuable to get that playing time. It ensures we’re getting games in,” said Head Coach Tom Cross.

To support the trip, the Blue Knights will host their annual Silver Plate Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Rosemount VFW, 2625 120th St. W.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with hor d’oeuvres. An Italian themed dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. In addition to food, the evening will include silent and live auctions, entertainment and prize drawings. Tickets are $50 and include dinner for two, hor d’oeuvres and prize drawings.

Cross said the event offers a fun night out while also providing support for the DCTC softball program.

“It’s a pretty lively event that draws the community and school together. We’re hoping for a sell-out evening,” said Cross.
