Twelve students bring home 14 awards
Composed of accounting, office careers, business management, and information technology students, the 2011–2012 Business Professionals of America student chapter at Dakota County Technical College turned in banner performances in BPA competitions at both the state and national levels. Twelve members of the DCTC chapter competed in the state leadership competition in February 2012, placing in 40 contests.
Every student who placed went on to compete in the BPA 2012 National Leadership Conference in Chicago, Ill., last April. Students traveled to the conference by train and stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Chicago. They took part in several competitions, including accounting concepts, computer programming, document formatting, job interviews, presentation management and financial analysis teams, bringing home 14 awards.
Lyle Stelter, DCTC accounting instructor and BPA advisor, takes great pride in the work and dedication shown by his BPA students. “I am honored to be a part of teaching process that leads these outstanding students to their respective career fields,” Stelter said. Stelter went on to say that all students enrolled at DCTC can be members of the Business Professional of America.
