Sophomore wing puts up two double-doubles in first two games of season

Leading Dakota County Technical College basketball to the program’s first two wins, Kevin Thompson, a 6’ 1” sophomore wing, posted two double-doubles in the first two games of the team’s inaugural season. Thompson scored 16 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in a 89–78 win over the North Iowa Area Community College Trojans Nov. 11, 2011, in Mason City, Iowa. The following day in an away game against the Ellsworth Community College Panthers, Thompson totaled 17 points and 14 rebounds in a 70–61 victory.
DCTC basketball is 2–0 as of Nov. 17. The Knights play Rochester Community and Technical College (1–1) Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. in Rochester. The next day, DCTC faces the St. Cloud Technical & Community College Cyclones (1–0) in the program’s first home game, which tips off at 1 p.m. at the Salvation Army Community Center in St. Paul. The Sal is the site of all Blue Knights basketball home games.
The Blue Knights have a 30-game schedule. Ron Gates, Coach Piv’s assistant for two decades, serves as associate head coach. The team practices at the High Performance Academy in Eagan.
