Year for next comprehensive evaluation: 2020–2021
Ronald E. Thomas, Ph.D., president of Dakota County Technical College, recently received a letter from Sylvia Manning, president of the Higher Learning Commission, formally notifying the college that the Institutional Actions Council voted to continue the accreditation of Dakota County Technical College and to adopt any new items affecting the Statement of Affiliations Status. The SAS is a summary of the college’s ongoing relationship with the HLC. Both the SAS and the college’s Organizational Profile will be posted on the HLC website on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011. The HLC is a commission member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
According to the HLC Handbook of Accreditation: “The Higher Learning Commission is a membership organization whose members are the organizations accredited by a Commission. Therefore, the terms member organization and accredited organization are synonymous. Reference to membership is limited to accredited colleges and universities.”
“Again, congratulations to everyone at DCTC involved in composing the Self-Study and preparing for the HLC consultant-evaluators team visit,” President Thomas said. “This is the news we have been waiting to receive.”
