Tom Cross | DCTC Blue Knights Fastpitch Softball Head Coach

Tom Cross, former head softball coach at Macalester College, has been named head coach of the Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights women’s fastpitch softball team. Cross coached the Scots from 2003 to 2011. In 2008, he won his 300th game as a college-level head coach. That same year and also in 2006, his teams posted the top GPA for all NCAA Division III softball teams in the country. The next year, seven of his players made the list for girls got game/NFCA Division III All-Academic Teams & Scholar Athletes. His career record at Macalester was 59–237–2.

Regarding his coaching philosophy, Cross said, “I strongly believe in a well-rounded student-athlete who prepares hard and competes hard while developing an awareness for the real world and its challenges. I believe the development of skill, concentration, commitment and chemistry is everything in creating a successful program.”

Blue Knights fastpitch softball competes as an independent at the NJCAA DIII level. Starting spring season 2013, the team will compete as an independent at the NJCAA DII level with scholarship opportunities available. Practice this coming season begins Feb. 1, 2012.
