Members officially assume new positions July 1, 2011
Rosealee M. Lee, CAE, CM, an instructor in the Meeting and Event Management program at Dakota County Technical College, reported that the MPI Student Club has announced a new board of directors. MPI stands for Meeting Professionals International, a nonprofit professional association with an active membership of 23,000 people in more than 70 chapters around the globe. MPI is the $102.3 billion meeting and event industry’s largest and most influential organization. MPI membership features leaders from 80 percent of the companies listed on the Fortune 100. Lee said the student club at DCTC has a clear-cut mission, noting that members promote education, professional relationships and networking opportunities within the hospitality industry.
“The MPI Student Club at DCTC strives for the development of leadership and good citizenship as well as creating strong communication ties between students, administration and the community,” said Lee, a former vice president of leadership development for Meeting Professionals International Minnesota Chapter, which was founded in 1978 and today has more than 450 members. “The new board members will officially assume their new positions on July 1. They’re looking forward to a great year as they lead club members into this creative, innovative and fast-paced industry.”
Lee also said that all members of the student club belong to MPI, which is committed to positioning meetings and events as a key strategic component of an organization’s success. For more on MPI, check out the following links:
