Hodan Farah, an enrollment advisor and financial aid specialist at Dakota County Technical College, will be giving a presentation called “The Muslim Perspective: A Multicultural Dialogue” Thursday, March 24, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Student Life Center on the college’s Rosemount campus. Students from the general education course, Marriage and the Family, taught by sociology instructor, Denise Strenger, will form the main audience, but everyone is welcome to attend.

“The presentation will cover just the basics of Islam and Muslim culture,” said Farah, a St. Thomas University graduate with a Master of Arts in Educational Administration & Leadership with an emphasis on public policy. Farah is pursuing her Doctor of Philosophy in Comparative and International Development Education with an emphasis on pedagogy at the University of Minnesota. “We wish to start a dialogue that will break through the myths and misinformation surrounding the Muslim way of life.”
