Larry Raddatz, director of manufacturing and railroad in DCTC Customized Training, took third place in the Male Age 55–59 Division at the Olympic (International) distance at the Toyota U.S. Open Triathlon Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, in Dallas, Texas.

“The top ten qualifiers in each age group along with professionals and elite amateurs from triathlons in Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York and Philadelphia were invited to compete in the U.S. Open in Dallas,” Raddatz said. “The venue included Lake Ray Hubbard for the swim and surrounding neighborhoods for the bike and run.”

Raddatz found the swim challenging due to choppy water, but he was able to come out of the lake in second place. Despite very hilly bike and run courses, he improved his times over previous triathlons over the past summer—even though those competitions took place at relatively flat venues.

“The weather was great and afterward while relaxing at the hotel pool, I had fun chatting with the pros,” Raddatz added. “I hope I do well enough to qualify again next year.”
