2010 Interior Design Vendor Fair

Design Connexion hosts third-annual event in library atrium

Design Connexion, a student group in the DCTC Interior Design program, put on the 2010 Interior Design Vendor Fair, a fundraising event that helped pay the way for three students to attend last year’s NeoCon, an international design trade fair in Chicago, Ill. The fundraiser also pays for an annual Interior Design graduation celebration in May.

“Students get a firsthand opportunity to connect with industry professionals,” said Interior Design Instructor Anne Farniok, CID, Leed AP. “Those same professionals will soon be assisting our students and graduates in the field with real-life design projects.”

Five-Year NKBA Re-Accreditation

The DCTC Interior Design program recently received five-year re-accreditation from the National Kitchen & Bath Association, or NKBA, the gold standard in the kitchen and bath industry. On a related note, Interior Design students and alumni took the Associate Kitchen & Bath Designer (AKBD) Certification Examination January 2010, marking the first time that students from the DCTC program participated in the exam, a new program from the NKBA certification department exclusively reserved for students in NKBA-accredited programs.

Current students Carol Huso and Angela Columb along with grads Susan Feyereisen and Tara Schulte all passed the exam and earned the coveted credentials.
