Supervisory Management instructor augments skill set
On Friday, Jan. 7, Scott Gunderson, chair of the DCTC Business and Management department and a Supervisory Leadership instructor at the college’s Apple Valley site, passed the certification exam that gave him the Senior Professional in Human Resources designation, or SPHR. This designation demonstrates professional dedication and master of human resource practices.
With 225 proctored questions, the exam is no walkover and carries a published pass rate of 58 percent. Last spring, Gunderson attended a 36-hour prep course from Century College taught by Craig Witthaus, a Concordia University, St. Paul, instructor with the SPHR designation. The test prep was stressful, but Gunderson sought the designation for professional and personal credibility because he teaches the coursework for DCTC’s Human Resource Development certificate.
