Community College Week Special Report ranks college #23

Community College Week issued a Special Report ranking Dakota County Technical College #23 on a Top 50 List of the Fastest-Growing Public, Two-Year Colleges in the nation for institutions with student enrollment levels at 2,500–4,999.

Community College Week, an independent, biweekly national publication for community, technical and junior colleges, compiled data from a survey conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics, the principal federal body delegated with collecting and analyzing education-related data. NCES is located within the U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of Education Sciences.

The survey showed that DCTC upped enrollment from 2,864 students in fall 2007 to 3,269 students in fall 2008, which is an increase of 405 students, or 14.1 percent.

DCTC was one of only two colleges in Minnesota to make the list, joining Central Lakes College, which showed a 15.4 percent increase over the same period. With campuses in Brainerd and Staples, CLC, along with DCTC, is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system.

With 2010 spring semester course registration at DCTC well underway, enrollment data currently projects a 15 percent increase in enrollment over spring semester 2008. Spring semester classes begin Monday, Jan. 11, 2010.
