Struggle to score in hard-fought contest
Off to their best start in five seasons, the Iowa Central Community College Tritons toppled visiting DCTC 1–4. The Blue Knights played tough, keeping the score 1–2 until late in the game.
Blue Knight Midfielder Rodrigo Galvan, a graduate of Humboldt High School in St. Paul, scored on a free kick from 25 yards out to put DCTC within one goal midway through the second half. DCTC continued to press until the Tritons put the game away with two late free kicks, including one penalty kick. The loss dropped the Knights to 1–5–1 through the most difficult part of the team’s schedule.
DCTC found the net and the win column when they took on Indian Hills Community College Wednesday, Sept. 16, in Ottumwa, Iowa, dropping the Warriors 3–0.
DCTC returns home to the Ames Soccer Complex, Friday, Sept. 18, at 4 p.m. to battle the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Golden Rams. The next day morning at 11 a.m., the Knights take on the Century College Wood Ducks, also at home.
