Women’s Soccer Shuts Out RCTC

Lady Knights edge past Yellow Jackets 1–0

The DCTC women’s soccer team traveled to Rochester Friday, Oct. 10, to take on in-state rivalRochester Community and Technical College. DCTC scored midway through the first half when sophomore Colette Montgomery (McAuley H.S., England) slotted a ball through to freshmanHeather Neurer (Tartan H.S.), who dribbled in and punched a shot past the RCTC keeper from 25 yards out. DCTC played solid defense the rest of the way and shut down the Yellow Jackets for a 1–0 win.

The victory improves the women’s record to 7–6 on the season with four games remaining.  The Lady Knights head for Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Wednesday, Oct. 15. From there, it’s off to Ottumwa, Iowa, for a game on Thursday, Oct. 16, against Indian Hills Community College before heading home to host Marshalltown Community College on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. DCTC plays all home games at Rose Park in Burnsville.
