On Saturday, April 4, the Blue Knights turned in a pair of victories against the Central Lakes College Raiders by scores of 6-5 and 21-2.
On Sunday, April 5, DCTC attempted to play a doubleheader against the Mesabi Range Community and Technical College Norsemen, winning the first game 13-11 before the weather canceled the second. Marcus Fitzgerald continued swinging a hot bat, collecting two hits each game. He went 6 for 9 on the weekend and raised his team-leading batting average to .486.
Fitzgerald belted his third homerun on the year, making him the team leader in that department. He also smacked three doubles with five RBIs.
Now hitting safely in eight straight games, Fitzgerald also hurled his way to a win against Central Lakes, improving his record on the mound to 3-0.
Spencer Braun also produced results from the batting box, going 6 for 9 with two homers and two doubles. He knocked in five runs and stole a pair of bases.
Ben Briesacher cashed in an outstanding game at the plate in the 21-2 drubbing of Central Lakes. He went 4 for 4 with one HR, two two-base hits and five RBIs.
Jeremie Kruse dropped his ERA to 0.82 and picked up his third win of the year in the 6-5 defeat of Central Lakes.
Jared Thies lowered his team-leading ERA to 0.78 and notched his second save in the 13-11 win over Mesabi.
DCTC stands with a record of 13-6 on the year. The Blue Knights will see their first home action of the year on Wednesday, April 9, at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. versus the Ridgewater College Warriors at the Rich Valley Athletic Complex in Inver Grove Heights.
