2007 Soccer Squads Celebrate The Season’s Successes

Members of the Dakota County Technical College Blue Knight men’s and women’s soccer teams were recognized for their efforts during the 2007 season at the DCTC Fall Sports Banquet.

The night began with recognizing the nine first-year players and one sophomore that were selected for the National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region teams.

Representing the DCTC women’s soccer team on the All-Region First Team were freshmen Erica Andreason (Savage) and Ashley Jones (Minneapolis).

Freshmen women Colette Montgomery (Edina) and Kate Vanwatermulen (Eagan) received All-Region Second Team recognition, and Kenna Kriedemacher (Eagan) and Amanda Perrier (Minneapolis) were named to the All-Region Honorable Mention team.

From the men’s team, sophomore TJ Haag (Burnsville) was recognized to the All-Region First Team, and freshman Soni Phommachanh was given All-Region Second Team recognition.

Freshmen Arnes Habibovic (Rochester) and Moe Tageldin (Rochester) were named to the All-Region Honorable Mention team.

Also receiving recognition at the awards banquet were varsity letter winners, and several individuals who received special team recognition.

Earning the Rookie of the Year Award was Andreason for the women’s team and Alex Johnson (Lakeville) for the men.

Perrier and Scott Latzke (Rosemount) were named Most Improved Player on their respective teams.

The Golden Boot Award, which recognizes the leading scorer of goals, assists, and minutes played, went to Jones for the women’s team and Soni Phommachanh (Burnsville) for the men’s team.

The Blue Knight Award, awarded to a team member who gives unselfishly and is fully committed to the team both on and off the field, was given to women’s team member Kriedemacher and men’s team member Geoffrey Kalanzi (Uganda).

The Most Valuable Player Award went to Vanwatermulen for the women, and to Haag for the men.

The night wrapped up with DCTC Head Soccer Coach Cam Stoltz recognizing the efforts of the assistant soccer coaches, Nicole Meulemans and Dan Houck, and giving final recognition to the second year players concluding their DCTC careers.

Men’s team members recognized for their two-year commitment to the Blue Knights squad were Cachibala Domingos (Eagan), Haag, and Akey Jumale (Marshall).

Women’s team members completing their DCTC career were Keely Anderson (River Falls, Wisc.), Kathryn Bosou (Burnsville), Jessica Johnson (Elgin), Kriedemacher, Megan Scanlon (Eagan), and Julie Selves (Yankton, SD).
