Improvement was the word for the Dakota County Technical College women’s soccer team in 2007.

The Blue Knights won four more games in 2007 than 2006 – raising the expectations for 2008.

“Our play improved and our roster improved which resulted in more victories,” head coach Cam Stolz said.

The 2007 season was a roller coaster ride for the Blue Knights as they started off winning three of its first five games and then lost nine of 12 games, including four games against nationally ranked two-year colleges. The season ended with the team winning four of its last six games before being eliminated in a close match versus Iowa Central in the region semifinal game.

“We took good steps this year,” Stolz said. “The play got better as the year went along.”

Ashley Jones (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn.) led the team in scoring with 16 goals followed by Keely Anderson (Soph., Spring Valley, Wis.) with nine goals. Kenna Kriedemacher (Soph., Eagan, Minn.) finished the season with seven goals.

Looking ahead, Stolz said the team has nine players that are eligible to return next year with six of them being returning starters. “Our recruiting calendar is off to a great start and we will look to improve our depth.”
