DCTC Splits With Two MCCC Conference Rivals

The Blue Knights baseball team traveled to Willmar on Tuesday to take on league-leading Ridgewater in a doubleheader, losing game one 1-5 and winning game two 3-1.

Dave Geiger threw a complete game, scattering nine hits, allowing just the one earned run, no walks, and striking out 10 Ridgewater hitters in the game.

DCTC got another complete pitching performance in game two, as Mike Spurling allowed just four hits and one earned run to pick up the win.

Offensively Jared Powell led the way with three hits on the day.

Saturday, the Blue Knights split again, this time with Minnesota West.

In game one, MN West came out swinging and scored four runs in both the first and third innings, eventually beating the Blue Knights 3-9.

In game two, DCTC put the game away early with seven first-inning runs. Four of those runs were scored on a HR from Ryan Valdez, his first of the year. DCTC would add three more runs in the fourth inning to secure the 10-0 win.

Justin Kohls and Spencer Braun held Minnesota West scoreless to end the game early via the 10-run rule. Kohls picked up his team leading fourth win of the year, allowing just three hits in four innings and picking up four strikeouts.
