Nine Dakota County Technical College students fared well in the SkillsUSA-Minnesota state contest.
Placing first were Electrical Construction and Maintenance Technology (ECMT) student Adam Herrman in Residential Wiring; ECMT student Troy Rudiger in Industrial Motor Control; and GM Automotive Service Educational Program (GM ASEP) student Curt Cauley in Automotive Service Technology.
With their first place finish, these students will compete at the national competition to be held later this spring.
Auto Body Collision Technology (ABCT) student Nick Schneider received second place in Collision Repair Technology, and third place honors went to ECMT student Jerod Grout in Residential Wiring; ECMT student Eric Johnson for Technical Related Math; ECMT student Richard Baum (PSEO) for Commercial Blueprint Reading; GM ASEP student Ryan Pankratz for Automotive Service Technology; and Concrete Masonry student Matthew Mulcahy for Masonry.
DCTC students from Heavy Duty Truck Technology and Automotive Technician Technology also competed in the competition.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives, working together to ensure America has a skilled work force. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations.
