Blue Knights Split With Itasca

Splitting a doubleheader with Itasca, the Blue Knights showed strength both on the mound and at bat.

Mike Spurling gave a solid pitching performance in game one, tossing a complete game, allowing just one earned run, and striking out four hitters. The pitching was not enough, however, as the Blue Knights managed just five hits, two coming from Jared Powell, and came away with a 1-2 loss.

In game two, the Blue Knights came from a 6-0 deficit to win 17-7 in five innings. Almost every DCTC starter ended up collecting at lest two hits in the game, with the Blue Knights socking 20 hits and scoring 17 runs to end the game early via the 10-run rule.

Chase Brown, Adam Stuessel, and Brad Beskau each had a three-hit day. Brad Rosendahl led the way with four RBI, and Powell and Beskau each added three RBI. Dave Geiger tossed four and two-thirds innings to earn the win and even his record at 1-1 on the season.

The Blue Knights are headed to the Metrodome to take on Iowa Central on Wednesday, and then to Anoka to take on Anoka-Ramsey on Saturday. Check back for all the latest updates.
