The DCTC Blue Knight men’s soccer season is underway with a 2-1-0 start to the season.
In last week’s action, DCTC was defeated 0-1 by 2005 regional champion Iowa Western, but was able to put two wins on the board against Scott Community College (1-0) and Ridgewater College (5-1).
Scoring the Blue Knights goal against SCC was Marwa Akway Omot, assisted by Mackenzie Dykstra. Omot and Dykstra also put points on the board against Ridgewater, along with Akey Jumale, Isaak Haile (PK), and Vincent Mbibi. Assists for the Ridgewater game went to Martin De La Fuente, Peter Beachy, Mohamed Ali Abdirahman, and Sam Tesfaye.
The Blue Knights will be back in action against North Iowa Area Community College on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 5 p.m. All home games are played at North River Hills Park, located at 11501 19th Avenue in Burnsville.
The first week of the Blue Knight women’s season also got underway with a record of 0-2-1.
The Blue Knight women were defeated 0-6 by conference rivals Iowa Western and 2-3 by Scott Community College. Blue Knight Keely Anderson put points on the board with a goal and an assist, and Mariel Ocotoxtle also contributed a goal.
The Blue Knights also traveled to Macalester College, tying the JV team 2-2. Emily Darmer contributed both goals, assisted by Trisha Hernick and Ocotoxtle.
Next up, the Blue Knight women will face Marshalltown Community College at home on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. Home games are played at North River Hills Park in Burnsville, located at 11501 19th Avenue.
