2006 Season Another Step In The Right Direction for the DCTC Blue Knights

The 2006 season has come to an end for the Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights, as they finish with a 23-17 record, a fourth place finish in the Minnesota Community College Conference State Tournament and an appearance in the Regional Tournament last weekend in Willmar.

While the Blue Knights dropped both games they played at the Regional Tournament, the season as a whole was very positive, especially when one considers the adversity the team endured on the mound.

“We lost five of our seven pitchers this year. That makes winning difficult no matter how good of a team you have,” said Tim Huber, head coach for the Blue Knights. ” In the last two years, we have made some big strides as a program, which has put us on the map in the MCCC and made us one of the teams to beat.”

And the strides made by the Blue Knights have not gone unnoticed.

Coach Huber was named the 2006 South Division Coach of the Year, Alex Smith and Alex Hanson-Michelson earned places on the 2006 All-Southern Division team and Paul Krebs and Ryan Van Dusen were named to the 2006 State Tournament All-Tournament Team.

For Smith, Hanson-Michelson, and Van Dusen, as well as Jason Gergen, Scott Werner, Mike Krejci, Charles Stene and Keith Engstrand, the final game of the 2006 season was their last playing for the Blue Knights, and their coach wishes nothing but the best.

“These guys worked hard the last two years and I want to thank each of them for what they have done,” said Huber.

A big thank you also to all the Blue Knights’ fans for their support during the 2006 baseball season. We encourage you to check back for all the latest Blue Knights scores and updates.
