Facing Riverland Community College on April 4 and Anoka-Ramsey Community College on April 6 in doubleheaders, the DCTC Blue Knights added three more victories to their winning season.
On Tuesday, the Blue Knights split the doubleheader against Riverland. In the first game, the Blue Knights fell victim to two unearned runs that ended the first game in a 4-5 loss. Despite trailing the entire game, Riverland managed to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh at four, scoring a run in the bottom of the eighth for the victory. Alex Smith went 3-5 in the game.
Paul Krebs was the story of the 11-1 victory in game two, striking out nine hitters in six innings. His efforts earned him his team-leading third win of the year. Smith, 5-7 on the day, added two more hits in the second game, with Alex Hanson-Michelson, Kyle Sovde and Jason Gergen matching his efforts. DCTC out-it Riverland on the day with hit totals at 20-12 for the two games.
Thursday, the Blue Knights walked away with a 13-2 victory and 11-1 victory in a doubleheader versus Anoka-Ramsey. In game one, the Knights were able to knock out 19 hits, including six doubles and one triple.
On the day, the Knights put 24 runs on the board versus Anoka-Ramsey in the two wins. Alex Monita picked up the game one win and Joe Hickey took the win in game two. Thirteen different hitters contributed to the two victories, including Jason Gergen with three and Derek Albers, Paul Krebs, Kyle Sovde and Tom Barilla with two.
DCTC is now 10-8 on the year and is showing they are capable of hitting, averaging .351 as a team with an average of 8.33 runs per game. Next up, the Blue Knights head to Rochester for the MCCC Crossover April 8 and 9.
