DCTC Soccer Falls In Two Games To Macalester JV

The Scots of Macalester College found soccer success against the men and women of Dakota County Technical College on Wednesday afternoon, prevailing in both matchups on DCTC’s home field in Inver Grove Heights.

In the men’s game, Macalester’s JV squad jumped out to a 1-0 lead, only to have the Blue Knights tie it up. Two more first-half goals would secure the win for Macalester, even thought DCTC pressed on late in the game scoring another goal to make the final score 3-2.

In the women’s match, the Knights scored first against a strong Macalester JV team. Macalester would come back to tie the game at one and eventually win 3-1. Despite the loss, Coach Cam Stoltz made a point of complimenting the vigorous and courageous effort of the women.

“We just played the JV of the fifth-best NCAA III program in the national rankings. Macalester is a talented four-year college dynasty in women’s soccer,” Stoltz said. “We played well for most of the match and will use the experience to better our future efforts against two-year colleges.”

The men also showed strong and will get an opportunity to split the season series when they return the game at Macalester next Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The women will play Macalester again in October.

Next, the Blue Knights host a women’s and men’s doubleheader this Saturday, Sept. 24 against conference rival Iowa Western Community College. Game times are 10 a.m. for women and 12 p.m. for men. Games are played at the Rich Valley Complex in Inver Grove Heights.
