Casey Holm and Kasey Dobbs show excellence in third week of season
The first letter in their names may be different, but Casey Holm and Kasey Dobbs have both shown they can put points on the board for the Blue Knights soccer program. Holm (men’s team) and Dobbs (women’s team) were each named this week’s athlete of the week in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (one of DCTC’s two conference memberships).
Holm, a sophomore forward from Hudson, Wis., ranks first in the National Junior College Athletic Association – Division I this season, with 13 goals recorded in eight games. This week alone, Holm scored three goals and two assists against Milwaukee Area Technical College, and one assist each against Madison Area Technical College and St. Olaf College.
Dobbs, a freshman forward from Rosemount, racked up three goals this week against Rochester Community and Technical College (in the team’s 3-0 victory), one against St. Olaf College, and another two in Brainerd last week playing Central Lakes College. She is currently ranked 16th in the NJCAA in scoring.
Coach Cam Stoltz said both players are good examples of well-rounded soccer players. “Both Kasey and Casey have contributed greatly to our teams’ success this season,” he said. “Their leadership and hard work are motivating others to step up and do what it takes to win games.”
Dobbs was captain of her high school soccer team and achieved all-conference honors. She plans to obtain a four-year degree after graduating DCTC.
Holm holds a 3.58 GPA in Exercise and Sports Science at DCTC and plans to attend the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay upon graduation.
