While both presidential candidates debated to what some are calling a “draw,” the Blue Knights’ women’s soccer team tied the Macalester JV squad with one goal each. It was the first-ever tie for the team in its two seasons.
Looking to avenge a loss to Macalester earlier in the season, the Blue Knights came to St. Paul determined to make a mark. After allowing the game’s first goal early in the second half, DCTC took it to Macalester putting a goal away in the 81st minute to tie things up.
To score, Sheena Lien dribbled down the left side and crossed to Becca Noonan. Noonan then volleyed it in for the point to send the game into overtime.
Headed by Tina Spurr in the backfield, Coach Cam Stoltz said it was “a stellar defensive game” for Teresa O’Keefe, Kelly Blanshan and Caitlin Kasper. Katie Majkrzak played all the minutes in the net for the Blue Knights, stopping nine shots
The team’s overall record is now 6-4-1.
Next up for the Blue Knights’ men and women is Iowa Central Community College on Saturday, Oct.2.
