On May 5th, DCTC’s Early Childhood and Youth Development program held its 2nd Annual Early Childhood and Child Life Career Fair. Over thirty industry partners filled DCTC’s Dakota Room and a solid turn out of students made for great networking and a buzz of excitement throughout the evening.
Students had a wonderful opportunity to network with industry professionals, learn about career options and, in many cases, secure a placement for practicum, field experience, or even a paid position! Employers including school districts, child care centers, children’s hospitals, and more were pleased with the caliber of students and students rated the evening as a wonderful success. Said one DCTC student, “I really enjoyed talking to everyone. Everyone was so nice and informative. There are so many opportunities that I didn’t even know were around!” Another DCTC student said, “Not only was this a great networking opportunity but great mini-interview practice. I feel more confident in my skills to start conversations with professionals.” Perhaps this student summed up theevening best when she said, “Tonight was awesome!”
The success of the event was greatly supported by the DCTC ECYD students who volunteered to help set up, check in guests, and provide assistance to our many visitors – thank you students! A special thanks to the employers that dedicated time to attend! We greatly appreciate your partnership to g-r-o-w the profession!
