Job Description
The Child Life Program supervisor has overall accountability and responsibility to manage the Child Life Program. The Child Life Program supervisor provides leadership to plan and direct education and recreation programs for hospitalized children and their families. The supervisor coordinates and evaluates operational and personnel activities to ensure the provision of high quality programs designed to support social, emotional, intellectual, and developmental needs of children in a hospital setting. The role includes ongoing collaboration and communication utilizing participation decision-making when appropriate. The program supervisor is responsible for promoting ongoing development of all staff and for maintaining a professional environment in which all staff can grow and develop. The program supervisor is accountable to establish a work unit culture that promotes service, safety, and quality. The supervisor is responsible for the development and management of the Child Life Financial Plan. The supervisor is responsible for long term strategic planning of the programs as well as assisting to meet the strategic goals of the institution. (001264)
Basic Qualifications:
Masters degree in Child Life, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, or a closely related field. Maintains Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) competency. Minimum of three to five years of clinical practice experience as a Child Life Specialist.
Other Qualifications:
Prior experience as a Child Life Program Director or experience in a supervisory role in preferred. Certification as a Child Life Specialist preferred. Demonstrated leadership skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others and to influence others. Excellent organizational, planning, and decision making skills. Effective communication skills.
