PRESCHOOL TEACHER The Inver Grove Heights school district is currently accepting applications for this position through Community Education, 32  – 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, $19.15 per hour

This position requires a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree with an emphasis on early childhood development. The preferred candidate will have three years of classroom experience in an early childhood setting. EARLY LITERACY TUTOR (FCC) This position is part of a new, innovative project between Think Small and Minnesota Reading Corps to extend the successful Minnesota Reading Corps Pre-K model to provide early literacy support to preschool-aged children in licensed family child care settings in Minneapolis and St. Paul. This position travels to the homes of licensed family child care providers to provide a 1.5-2 hour Reading Corps “mini-preschool” session in each provider’s home to build children’s early language and literacy skills in preparation for Kindergarten. The tutor will visit two providers per day. The tutor will be trained and coached to deliver Reading Corps evidence-based literacy strategies and conduct developmentally-appropriate assessments to monitor student progress. The tutor will also support family engagement strategies as children transition and prepare for Kindergarten.

Position Type: This is an 11-month, part-time position (20-25 hours/week, 920 total hours). Primarily morning hours, Monday-Friday; one evening training (6-9pm) per month. Must be available for training on August 19-21 from 8:15AM-4:30PM in St. Paul. This is an AmeriCorps position with Minnesota Reading Corps. Position starts August 11.

Benefits: This part-time position earns a stipend of approximately $526 once every two weeks while actively serving, as well as an education award of $2,882 upon successfully completing the service year. The stipend is inclusive of mileage incurred to travel between family child care providers. Student loan deferment available. Health insurance not provided.

Requirements to apply:
Must have reliable transportation to travel to licensed family child care locations.
Must be 18 years of age or older by August 10, 2014.
Must have at least a high school diploma or a GED by August 10, 2014.
Must be either a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Must not have served more than three terms of service previously with AmeriCorps.
