Tomorrow morning 2 buses full (with people from all over MN) are driving down to Kansas City, MO for the 50th annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical education students. More than 15,000 people – including students, teachers and business partners – are expected to participate in the week-long event.
Let me back up – Our school did pretty well at the state competition. I’m so very proud of all of the students at DCTC involved in Skills. I’m especially proud of the students in our Early Childhood program that chose to compete this year- Haley M and Maria B. Students that place first at the state competition are invited to compete at the national competition in Kansas City, MO. Maria is ready for the challenge that Nationals will bring! Check out this VIDEO about the SkillsUSA National Conference.
That brings us to the present – About 20 of us (students and advisors) from DCTC are on our way to Nationals! We are looking forward to the adventure ahead. The students have been diligently preparing for this week. They’re ready to continue to work hard and to show their perseverance, talent, skills, creativity, and professionalism. After their competitions are completed, there may even be some time for FUN!
Even though you’re not in attendance with us, you can follow our progress. (Please do!) I’ll be tweeting during the week. (Hashtag #NLSC14) You can also watch the awards ceremony LIVE on Friday, June 27th beginning at 5 p.m. (CDT) at THIS WEBSITE. Actual program begins at 6pm. Our program competition is called Early Childhood Education.
