Special Report: Perhaps what’s most crazy about the notion of arming teachers is how most discussions on this important issue are  mostly devoid of sober, thoughtful, factual examination. On one extreme we hear rabid gun supporters encouraging schools to enter an arms race.  On the other we see a visceral rejection of the idea so strong, that facts are irrelevant. We asked some educators and school security experts  to really stop and think about this issue an were surprised by what we found. We think you will be too. TUNE IN HERE to learn more about this hot topic.

I am married to a retired Eagan cop. Two sons are B’ville cops and daughter in law is an Eagan cop. I also have 7 grandkids, 5 of whom are attending public school. As a mom, grandmom and childcare provider I definately want our school administers to be armed. My preference is actually to have a police officer greet everyone who enters the school, but that is pretty expensive for districts. There should always be at least one armed person in the office or entry way to the school. The weapon should be holstered with a snap so a student can’t grab it, just like a police officer would. Police Departments should train these conceal and carry folks for free. They can even qualify with the police officers when they shoot twice a year.

Thanks for your comment Sue! We appreciate your point of view. It’ll be interesting to see if any of the little ones choose that field of work as well 😉
