Stuart Stotts
I’d like to introduce our guest speaker for July 2012…
Stuart Stotts is an author, storyteller and songwriter. He’s also a popular keynote presenter and workshop leader at conferences and trainings for child care providers around the country. He leads workshops on music, literacy, and arts integration, focusing on making connections to brain-based research and the importance of community and relationships in student learning. Stuart’s travels have taken him to Abu Dhabi, England, Greece, Central America, and hundreds of places in between, like Fond du Lac and Green Bay. Stuart is also a Kennedy Center Teaching Artist.
I’m a Teacher, Not a Babysitter! (<– Click to listen) In 2008, Stuart worked with the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association to create over ten songs that celebrate child care providers. These songs reinforce the importance of the work, with humorous stories and poignant images that will inspire a new commitment and a new appreciation for your job! Stuart’s video Powerful Friends is the first song released from this project.

Stuart took a few minutes to discuss his I’m a Teacher, Not a Babysitter project with the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association. Stuart believes that providers are an excellent resource for parents. Stuart understands that oftentimes providers are under-valued. *Listen in* as he describes his mission to encourage teachers to develop a sense of self-respect and how music is his vehicle to promote this message.
