Here’s a quick update…

It was a busy week in MO, filled with adventures and rollercoasters (emotional and actual). Let me tell you – IT WAS HOT! When we arrived, it was 101 and when we left, the heat advisory was 109! There were over 6,000 competitors this year which makes it the largest competition ever for Skills USA. There were about 200 people traveling from MN down to MO. The bus ride down was fine but the ride back left much to be desired (it was an overnight trip).

I’ll cut to the chase…Lorelei earned a GOLD MEDAL at the Skills USA National Competition! We are so very proud of her! I’ll be honest, the competition was tough this year – everyone brought their A game. Lorelei’s skills, motivation, and dedication (let’s not forget heart/passion) allowed her to SHINE through the rest! I’ve included some photos from the week below.

Did you know that the awards ceremony was LIVE online? Don’t worry if you didn’t, I’ve got the link for you! You can see Lorelei during her amazing moment HERE. Her GOLD medal is announced in Part 1 at 2:30:28 and she’s on stage in Part 1 at 2:40:03. You can learn more about what she was scored on HERE.

Overall, MN did great, bringing home 31 medals – 19 of which were GOLD. DCTC brought home 5 medals. You can see photos and more at the SkillsUSA: DCTC Chapter page on Facebook.

This could be YOU next year. Are you interested in trying Skills? Come let us know if you are. There are many different competition areas for you to show your skills. There will be a fall info meeting (date TBD).
