Welcome to February! You can access the ECYD February Newsletter HERE.

Did you know… In the winter of each year, the ancient Romans would celebrate a festival of spiritual cleansing. The name of the festival was Februa. Because of its importance, the Romans named the month in which it fell Februarius, which means “of Februa.” The English name February comes from the Latin Februarius. (Merriam-Webster)

February is the month of Groundhog Day, the Superbowl, Valentines Day, President’s Day, and many more! It’s also American Heart Month, Black History Month, and National Children’s Dental Health Month. Click HERE for some resources about National Children’s Dental Health Month.

I’ve included below, a song for President’s Day, from the book “Piggyback Songs,” by Jean Warren.

Honest Abe
Sung to “Yankee Doodle”

I love the name of Abraham
Wee see him on our money.
His picture’s on the $5.00 bill
And also on our penny.

Honest Abe is what he’s called
Honest, kind, and true.
He was our 16th President
He loved both me and you.

Hope you have a lovely February!
