I’d like to tell you about a couple of students that had the opportunity to complete their summer internship at Nationally Accreditated Child Care Centers. Jill Behnke, DCTC Child Development Instructor, was able to observe these students and their mentors in action 😉

Alyssa Cranor was placed at Kinderplatz in the Whipple Federal Builing at Fort Snelling.

Alyssa was mentored by Shawrene Rance with the assistance of her mother Mary Jane Weltmer, both DCTC Child Development Associate Degree graduates. Shawrene Rance received national recognition this spring as an outstanding teacher.  She is currently working on her bachelor degree at Bethel College and has her AS degree from DCTC.  Mary Jane Weltmer, Shawrene’s mother, completed her AAS degree this past spring at DCTC.

Amber Ross was at Dodge Nature Preschool.

Dodge Nature Preschool is part of Dodge Nature Center in West St. Paul.  The staff in this program consist of early childhood teachers and naturalists to make this a very unique child care program.

Hannah Decklever was placed at Pat’s Precious People in Lakeville.

Pat Gentz is one of thirteen nationally accreditated family child care providers in MN and the only nationally accreditated family child care provider in Dakota county. She is also the professional guest speaker of September! (Currently under construction)

We are very pleased to know that our students have the opportunity to work in such quality programs with exceptional mentors!
