No, this post isn’t about a phone, sorry. It’s about last Thursday when I brought my little sidekick to work with me. We had a blast!

When we first arrived, he said, “I remember this place now. I remember the smell.” I took him around to meet everyone: VP Murtaugh, Dean Cox, President Thomas, the marketing team, and many other important people. He enjoyed meeting them, especially the marketing team and Pres. Thomas. He said, “I’m not used to being treated this way. You introduced me and they gave me all this stuff!” He got a DCTC ball, necklace, bat, and bear.

We had some spare time so my son tried out our newest Ellison dies-Community Helpers. He used the machine properly and created some lovely characters. He also sorted some of the lab paper box. He was amazed that some students didn’t seem to understand the difference between paper that was usable and paper that wasn’t.

Next, we ordered our lunch. “I’ll have a grilled cheese, no pickle,” I said. Then the cook looked to my son, “I’ll have a grilled cheese, no pickle.” We all smiled. He also asked for an orange gatorade and a big cookie. We ate our lunch in the teacher’s lounge.

It was then time to head back upstairs to class. He was excited to watch me and the students in class. The students presented their curriculum files items. My son was impressed! After class, I had some office work to do so he listened to his MP3 player and played his Leapster.

Once my work was finished, we packed up and headed home. “Mom, it was really fun to come to work with you. Thanks!” What a treat to have my little sidekick with me all day. I know I enjoyed it as much as he did.
