Today I was up and up an’ attem at 5am and began my journey south at 6:30. I was on my way to meet the Child Life Director at Mayo Eugenio Litta Children’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. It took about 2 hours from my home. Wasn’t it a fantastic day? I thought it was perfect driving weather.
We began with a tour of the hospital. I found the history portion very intriguing! I was able to view the teen, pediatric, NICU, PICU, and transplant wings including their playrooms. Once the tour was complete, we discussed the new Child Life Assistant program at DCTC and the possibility of students completing various experiences at Mayo. The answer is not yet definate, but we are hoping that a continued relationship is possible.
After a 3.5 hour visit, I was on my back to the metro area. All in all, it was a nice visit. I am opptomistic of the possibilities and am grateful for the experience!
