It’s that time of year again….Brrr! Of course, children usually enjoy playing in the snow, but it’s also nice to backup options if it’s too cold, or if you have real little ones. I’ve put together a short list of indoor play area options for you this winter/spring. I say spring also because when it’s muddy and wet, it’s nice to play inside too.

One of my personal favorites is Adventure Peak. It’s located at Edinborough Park, 7700 York Ave. S., Edina. It’s a large indoor playground (nearly one-acre) with enclosed climbing areas and giant slides. There’s also an infatable bounce house and a separate toddler area for the younger ones. Adventure Peak is a shoe-free environment and socks MUST BE WORN on the equipment. After the kids are done playing at Adventure Peak, they can meander over to Great Hall, a large gym area with balls, scooters, etc. and a large inflatable bounce house. There is a child fee of $5.50. Parents and children under 1 are free. You can contact them at 952-832-6790 or at www.edinboroughpark.com.

Maple Maze Indoor Playground is another option. It’s at the Maple Grove Community Center, 12951 Weaver Lake Road, Maple Grove. There are four climbing levels, slides, playhouse, and a ball pit. If you have toddlers, there’s a separate play area for them. There is a child fee of $4.50. Parents and children under 1 are free. You can contact them at 763-494-6500 or at www.ci.maple-grove.mn.us.

The Blast can be found in Eagan at the Eagan Community Center. It’s an indoor park with an outerspace theme. Your little cadet can climb the space shuttle tower or shoot down the Wormhole Slide. There is a child fee of $5. Parents and children under 17 months are free. You can contact them at 651-675-5550.

Have older children? Check out the Wooddale Fun Zone located at 2122 Wooddale Drive, Woodbury. There’s an indoor playground for children ages 10 and older along with inline skating and a game arcade. You can contact them at 651-735-6214 or at wooddalefunzone.com. The cost is $4-11 per child, depending on the time/number of activities.

Grand Slam is also a great family hotspot, especially if you have older children. It’s an indoor amusement center with 18-hole miniture golf, playzone (2 level play area with slides & tunnels), 5 batting cages, indoor bumper car track, arcade games, and a 2 level game of laser tag. In case you’re hungry after all this fun, there is a tasty snack bar. You can learn more and see a video at http://www.grandslammn.com/
