Hazardous Waste Training 2011
Dave Magnuson of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency came to our class and provided training on the State and federal regulations far handling hazardous waste. He explained what types of containers were required, where they should be stored, how they need to be labeled, the methods for securing the containers and the rules for transporting the waste. He also described a special program category for businesses that are ” very small quantity generators.” This program is designed to make the rules less burdensome for the small businesses that generate less than 220 pounds (about 22 gallons) of waste per month. Students who start their own businesses after completing the Wood Finishing Technology Program at DCTC would fall into that category. At completion of the training, the students received a certificate certifying they had completed hazardous waste generating training.
